The 7th grade Broncos got the night started with another dominating win in district play with a 65-41 win over Grapevine. East suffocated the Mustang offense with their full court press which led to 23 steals for the Broncos. Whether it was a full court press or half court traps, the Bronco defense proved too strong for Grapevine to handle. The Broncos also were able to score at will putting up another 65-point effort. The Broncos were led in scoring with Brody Mitchell with 25, Sid Kanaparthi with 15 points and James Naughton with 14 points. Graham Easterling had a great game also with 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists. Player of the game is James Naughton who handled the ball extremely well and hit some big time shots for East.
B team used their athleticism to shut down the Mustang offense all night, only allowing 15 points. The Broncos were led in scoring by Robert Saunders with 10 points, Landon Nichols with 8 points, and Tyler Kim with 8 points as well. East improved to 2-0 on the year with a 42-15 win. Player of the game is Robert Saunders who got the Broncos off to a fast start.
The C team capped the stellar night off for the Broncos with a solid showing. The Broncos were able to force numerous turnovers due to their suffocating press that had the Mustangs struggling to get past half court all night long. Jackson Pope-Hopkins led all scorers with 14 points, followed by Landon Ray with 8 points, and Yuta Uchiyama added 6 points. The C team finished the sweep of the Grapevine Mustangs with a 42-20 win. Player of the game is Landon Ray who had numerous steals that led to East scoring a lot of transition baskets.
